STINGRAYS DROP FIRST GAME TO LAST YEARS PREMIERS

We lost our first game 130  - 50 to last years premiers.  We were invited to bat second and Happy Hindos made 130.  (This could have been far worse save for MINUS 4 from the last pair.)

Our batting was led by Courtney and Donna with 27 and William Greenshields (debut game) and Huw Stone 17. The Cara / Rachael and Kylie / Lauren partnerships were MINUS four.

Highlights included a great catch to Lauren and a blinding straight hit from Kylie.

Jess O'Reilly had a very good game for The Morphett Vale Sharks Super League (Women's) team last week making 18 and taking a wicket in their second win for the season.

Next weeks game is 4.50 on Monday June 1st.

Brilliant fielding and bowling gives us a hat trick of wins

Stingrays made it a hat trick of wins with a convincing 68 run win over the Titans.

We batted first with Courtney and Huw making 28.  Lauren Goldsmith (debut game) and Daniel Carraghar made 12, Rachael and Brandi 29 (for Rachael a hand in the highest partnership in each game) and Kylie and Cara 28.

The Titans opened well with 43, but had fired all their big guns in the opening partnership, with second and third parterships of MINUS 19 AND MINUS 15 they were well out of the game despite a final stand of 20.

Cara Allen and  Lauren Goldsmith bowled well in the middle overs and great "sweeping" work and fielding from Huw Stone were important in the win.

This week we play at 4.50 pm against Happy Hondos.

TWO IN A ROW

The Indoor team made it two in a row with a convincing 49 run win over FIVE DOLLAR BILLS.

The Bills fielded very well to hold us to 107.  Huw Stone and Rachael Greenshields were the backbone of the batting with 41.  Daniel Carragher and Courtney Brideson opened with 14 a very rocky start.  (We did not crack 0 until the third over!!)  Cara Allen and Donna Clark made 24 against some very quick bowling and Kylie Rattray and Brandi Ongley finished off with 26.

The score seemed to be "about 20 short" – but we fielded and bowled superbly.  Huw Stone was superb with excellent saves and great catching – two run outs off consecutive deliveries in the second partnership kept the game out of  The Bills' reach.  We held them to 10 and 7 in the first two partnerships, needing 90 from pairs three and four and taking more risks we took wickets regularly.

Next week is a 5pm start against TITANS.

With winter upon us its Indoor time again!

This year the Stingray girls will be assisted by Under 16s Huw Stone and Daniel Carrigher (in his second year) to coach and mentor our team.
In our first game Cara Allen was our only debutant.  She batted well with Daniel being part of a 37 run partnership.
We made 174 with 46 from Huw and Kylie Rattray, 47 from Rachael and Donna (no wickets) and 44 from Rachael and Courtney.  We bowled well with three wickets in the first over from Huw and Cara taking her first wicket with the fourth ball of her first over.
Stingrays 174 opponents 41.
Next game Monday 11 May at 4.30.
In other news

c grade grand final report

The C grade girls ended their season with a brave effort against Prospect in the Grand Final.  We batted our overs to finish 9/56 - with Kylie Dannenberg top scoring with 13.  Other highlights included 28 minute innings from Tianna Muirhead and Jess Vincent.
We got an early wicket (Jess) but the Northerners got the runs in 15 overs.
Prospect won both competitions this season - we had a tie with them in a T20 (to lose on a bowl off) and did not lose a game.
WELL DONE TEAM - A GREAT IMPROVEMENT ON LAST SEASON.
2007-8 - no wins
2008-9 - Grand Finallists
