Stingrays down to Five Dollar Bills

In our last game before the July went down by 28 runs.

The Bills made 96 with partnerships of 46  (1st) and 28 (4th) with two small partnerships of 10 and 12.

We tried to match the partnerships with a 23 first wicket (Daniel and Brandi).  But five run outs to our second wicket pair put us behind the eight ball (-2).  Donna and Courtney did a great job to get us back in the game with a 3rd wicket stand of 40.

Tahlia and Rachael took us to 78 (18 to get off 10) but could not repeat last weeks efforts ( and the requirement to play big shots as we lost wickets) to see us fall short.

With five games to go we sit comfortably in the four (26 points clear of fifth spot Dare Devils – who we play twice more this season.) with Huw Stone to return from injury after the break.

Games resume July 20 (first day back in Term 111) – with games on July 27, August 10, 17 and 24.

stingers in thrilling last ball win!

Tahlia McGrath and Rachael Greenshields pulled of a spectacular one run win over recent hoodoo side the Hippie Hondos.
The Hondos batted first making 107 - with partnerships of 24, 20, 36 and 27.
Tahlia McGrath pulled off a couple of ripper stumpings and Lauren Goldsmith took a catch and a wicket.
We played "Skins" Cricket in the chase - where the aim is to match / or go close to matching the partnerships of the opponents and making sure the last pair is within touch.
Daniel and Brandi matched the 20 of the Hondos with 21 - to give us a +1 result; Lauren and Donna make a patient 31, giving us a +5 over the 27 of the Hondos and almost matching the 36 (two skins) but  Donna and Courtney lost key wickets to give us 21 (- 3).  We needed 35 to win with first gamer Tahlia and prolific partnership champ Rachael.
They paced their innings well - with no big shots (in fact they DID NOT HIT A FIVE OR SEVEN), placed the ball well and scampered between the wickets.
With two balls to go we needed three for the win, a dot ball from ball seven meant we still needed three.  Rachael's leg side net produced one, the single produced the two (and the tie) and the stolen single produced the win - WELL DONE TAHLIA!!!!
All batters took full toll of the Hondos three fielders, running and picking gaps well.
We have a bye next week (June 22) with one more game (June 29) before the Holiday break.
We wish Huw well with his injured ankle (basketball is a dangerous game) and hope Kylie gets better from a cold!
