Stingers back on track

After last weeks loss to Spiders 120 – 85 – we are now back on track with a 41 run over Aldinga.

This week we had a full compliment of players (thanks Brittany for last week) and Kylie for this week.

We batted first making a solid 78 -  Rachael and Donna 12, Brandi and Lauren 16, Cara and Courtney 13 and Sam and Thomas 37.  Aldinga's pairs made 24, 5, 13 and minus 5.

Our fielding was alot sharper than previous weeks.

The next two games June 7 and 21 are against our two arch rivals The Gold Machine and Slappers ( last year's semi and grand finalists.)

Stingers first loss

We went down in the latest round of Indoor Cricket.

Batting first competition leaders Titans made 100 – with Rachael Greenshields reducing their score by 10 with catches with the last two balls.  They scored 21, 12, 49 and 18.

Our first pair put us behind the eight ball making minus 4.  We scored 30 with the second pair, 21 with the third, but with 47 needed from the last pair there was just too much to do.

Three  Stingrays players Georg Catsiavas, Trent Riddle and Brittany Miller played for Titans.

STINGERS MAKE IT TWO IN ROW

The Stingrays Indoor team made it two in a row with a 123-40 win over Six and Out.

We welcomed back Lauren Goldsmith for her first Stingrays game since October 2009 and regular Brandi Ongley.

Our bowling and fielding highlights included great reflex catching by Rachael, Sam Phillips stumping and a speccy run out from Lauren where she stopped the ball, threw and caused the run out in one motion!!!!  Donna also provided two wickets in her spell with unplayable yorkers.

Our batting was steady with Cara and Donna providing a good start with 23, Sam and Rachael 36, Brandi and Lauren 21 with Kylie and Thomas putting the icing on the cake with 43.

We also welcomed interested spectator Marg Hay – who is playing at the Morphett Vale ICA Sharks Women's team with Jess O'Reilly.  Marg heads off on an Australian cruise Thursday.... Happy trails...

Last Friday Tahlia McGrath received an The Young Cricketer of the Year Encouragement Award from the Cricket Lovers of South Australia.  The guest speaker was Centenary Test Umpire Max O'Connell.

its winter so it must me indoor again!!!

Welcome to our new season of Indoor Cricket.

We welcome Sam Phillips (wicketkeeper) and Thomas Scott to the team this year as Daniel and Huw are too old for the Under 15 competition.

Our first opponents were the Flagstaff Slappers ( a new team in the comp this year.)

We lost the toss and batted first.  Rachael and Donna opened with 36, Kylie and Courtney 31, Sam and Thomas 34 and Rachael and Cara finished off with 36.  The 137 off the four / five ball overs was very competitive.

We held them to 0 in their first pair  and the rest of their batting was 20, 16 and 21.

Our game was highlighted with some very clever fielding ( the benefit of state training), Sam Phillips excellent keeping and Rachael Greenshields FIRST SEVEN!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO
Jess O'Reilly, Rachael Greenshields, Courtney Brideson, Kylie Rattray, Donna Clark and Brittany Miller who were selected in the Under State Indoor team to play in early July in Adelaide.
