T20 good form continues

Batting first we put on our usual late inning surge with 59 off the last five overs and 43 off the last four.  Instrumental were our captain Dayna 57 (60  balls ) and Kylie 49 (26 balls with seven 4s and three 6s.) For Dayna it was her second score of 50+ in the last two T20 games.  Kylie’s innings was highlighted by 21 taken off the Port opening bowler included a HAT TRICK OF SIXES at the start of the over. Brandi chimed in with a quick six- ball cameo with 13 no (including her first A grade six!!!)

Port scored quickly in the first four overs to be 0/36 – but the important wicket of state player Alicia Dean (28) turned the game in our favour.  We took the wickets of Rush and Johnston in three balls across the 13th and 14th overs to give us the advantage. Dayna bowled two key two over spells to tie up one end in the 10th and 12th overs and took two wickets across her last two overs to start the 4/0 collapse.  Cara finished off the game with two wickets in her fourth over.

We go into the Christmas break second by one game on the T20 table with four games to follow in January.

The C graders had their third game for the season and are showing excellent improvements.  This week we ventured to Kensington and had players on the Port/ Sturt/ Northern/ Southern side and the Kensington side.

Nikki hit two cover driven fours.

State Under 18 - great news

We have four representatives in the Scorpions Under 18 team which goes away in January.

Congratulations to Donna Clark, Tahlia McGrath, Georgia Weatherspoon (KI) and Tabitha Saville (Alice Springs.)

They will travel to Ballarat in the second week in January.

Go well.

Donna and "Michelle!"

The West Torrens game was highlighted by Donna Clark achieving her PB with 5/21. (In cricketing terms and 5 for is a Michelle..... Michelle Pfeiffer!!!!) groans

The SACA top wicket taker last season has been bowling well but her best figures thus far have been a 1/8 off three overs.

She took wickets in the third and fourth overs of her first spell and took a further three wickets in her second spell.

But we were held up by state captain Lauren Ebsary who scored 126 and held the West Torrens innings together (their next top score was 17!)

We had them 2/43 in the seventh and 3/73 in the 12th over – but a 62 run fourth wicket stand gave them the upper hand. Our work the second half of the innings held their score to 232 inside the 50 overs.

Our batters could not establish any significant partnerships in the chase.  Openers Tahlia McGrath (10) and Rachael Greenshields (22) put on 25 to be the best.  Rachael’s 22 was her third score of over 20 for the season.

The C graders had their second game for the season.  This week they combined with Northern to defeat the Sturt/Port team.  Nikki Moyle kept and batted well.  Serena Ongley bowled well and Caitlin Kennedy is showing steady improvements in all parts of her game.
Our last game before the break is at Kensington on Sunday.

The Reynella girls were part of the Test match lunchtime entertainment on the Friday.  We had over 40 players and parents take up the opportunity to have a day at the test match and show off their skills at the Adelaide Oval.

Kayla McGrath had a very good Under 15 championships with 170 runs @ just under 25 per innings.  She scored four scores of over 20 in the minor round and a PB of 65 in the 3 v 4 final.

She also took two wickets and two catches and four stumpings when wicket keeping.

SA finished a creditable 3rd to superpowers NSW and Vic.

Southern girls on Totally Wild

Recently we had our Reynella girls involved in a filming session for the Network 10  children’s program “Totally Wild.”  They were in the capable coaching hands of Donna Clark and Kylie Rattray.

This was as a result of our very successful Saturday morning Girls Only Comp held at Reynella this term.  We had over 50 players involved as well as our involvement in the Milo In2cricket sessions.

Dayna Dominates

We continued our win/loss pattern in T20 cricket with a convincing win over Sturt.

We now sit in second spot with one game until the Christmas break.

The game was set up by captain Dayna Cox who completed a PB of 62 no off 50 balls.

She set the tone for the innings with a four off her second ball and proceeded to hit nine fours and one straight hit six in the last over off the innings.

She came in at a precarious 2/9 in the 3rd over and shared a 53 run partnership with Tahlia McGrath (33) and an unbroken partnership of 62 with Kylie Rattray (23no.)

The innings was highlighted by taking 31 off the last two overs (off Australian rep Megan Schutt and former state player Sarah Carver).   This took us from 3/99 to an above par 3/130 (6.5 per over)

Tahlia McGrath affected a run out in the first over, Donna Clark followed up with a wicket in the 5th over (2/21) and Cara Allen took the key wicket of Australian player Megan Schutt (3/31). This gave us the advantage.

Kylie had two stumpings and a catch and Brandi bowled well in her second spell. Tahlia McGrath bowled four tight overs and Dayna Cox chimed in with two overs to place the pressure back on the Sturt batters.
They finished 48 runs short.

Well done to our C grade girls – Nikki Moyle and Serena Ongley were joined by newcomer Chelsea Kennedy.  They combined with the Northern girls to beat the Port / Sturt side.  Nikki kept well and Caitlin took her first wicket.

Remember Tuesday night for the men’s A grade T 20 game at Bice.
