Bs save outright .....Brandi and Cara save As from …..

The As returned to weekend cricket with Kensis at home.
They struck a rampant Brigit Patterson (state rep) who scored 149.
We took the early wicket of Doddridge (1/15), but Paterson and Sarah Lowe put on 129 for the second wicket to set up Kensis huge score of 5/325.  T Mac took 3/45.
We were in early trouble with the loss of 6 for 40 in the 22nd over ( and were looking at being asked to bat again!)
But an 18 over partnership between Brandi (20) and Cara Allen (20) took the game into the 41st over and out of the danger zone.
Former Stingrays Kelly and Hannah Armstrong were prominent for Kensis, Kelly taking 5/19 and making 20 no and Hannah taking two catches and making 14 no.
The Bs were asked to bat again against Uni.
The batted their 40 overs making 3/175. Kylie took a wicket and figured in two run outs.
Batting the first time Kylie made 18 (2 fours 1 six), Ella batted 30 balls as did Erin.
Erin and Mum (Jacqui) put on 20 for the last wicket to be the best partnership of the innings.
Having faced 23 overs and having 30 minutes to play Uni put us back in.  We lost three wickets in the third over of the innings and a further two in the 8th but the clock beat Uni in their quest for an extra 10 points.
Erin remained not out in both innings and Caitlin Seccafien scored a PB opening the batting in the second.
Kerry, Tayla and Serena …… pairs.

Don’t forget the next TWO SATURDAY EVENINGS at the Club as we enter FEBLUARY.  There is a game on Saturday evening and the Pink Quiz night on Febluary 13.

ALECIA'S HAT TRICK!

The highlight of the Twilight game was a hat trick to offspinner Alecia Holt.
Coming on in the 11th over   Sturt were well established being 1/84.
She had state player Alex Price (38) caught by Kylie Rattray at deep mid on, next ball she had the established batter Eliza  Bartlett (25) caught and bowled and bowled ex state player Casey Galbraith to complete the hatty.
The next ball to Annie O’Neill saw an appeal for LBW which according to umpires “was pretty close!”
This was after an excellent B grade performance on Sunday where she was “on a hat trick” with two in two in her first over against Kensi Gold. (First spell 3-2-1-3.)
Sturt made 5/159 off 20.
We lost Rachael in the fourth over.  Tahlia McGrath “played herself back into form” (her quote) with 38 off 40 balls and Kathryn Bryce continued her good form with 43 no (carrying her bat).  Kylie had a little fun late in the innings with 15 off seven balls. We finished with 3/110.

This week the Bs have Adelaide Uni in town ( head off early as parks will be at a premium!!!!) and the As have Kensis at Bice in a 50 over game.

Bs win - Kathryn first 50 for Stingrays

The Bs won their first game in their own right with a convincing five wicket win over Kensi Gold.
Rachel Dickinson and Chloe Dancer bowled tightly in their first six overs to take two wickets.  This opening up Kensi’s middle order to the guile and cunning of Alecia Holt.  After three overs she had 3/1 taking the game away from the home team. (She finished with 4/5 !)

With the Golds 6/22 they had a partnership of 17 for the seventh wicket and 11 for the eighth wicket. Erin Temme and Alecia cleaned up the tail to see them dismissed for 54 in just short of 20 overs. This was Erin’s first wicket for the Stingrays.
Our fielding was the best it has been all season with two catches to Tayla at short mid wicket (one an excellent reflex!) a run out and a slick catch by wicketkeeper Kylie.

Rachel and Kaitlyn Heath set the foundation with an opening partnership of 35 off the first 10 overs.  Kaitlyn finished with a PB of 12 off 32 balls batting 56 minutes.  Rachel made 13 including a delightful back foot square drive for the only boundary of the innings. Others to impress included youngsters Caitlyn Secoffein (24 balls) and Erin Temme (23 balls).  Erin hit the winning runs in the 22nd over and now has a PB of 6 no.
*************************************************************************
The As welcomed back Tahlia from Big Bash duties, Kayla from the Under 18s and Bridee from the State Country side.

The  highlight of the first game of the double header was a 68 run partnership from Kathryn Bryce (50) and T Mac (26). They had us 1/81 in the 16th but we could not capitalise on this partnership finishing with 5/97.

They passed us in the 19th over with openers Treloar and Mackrill putting on 95 in 18 overs. Kathryn took two wickets in her last over.
Kensington won the toss in the second game and made 4/148. We took wickets in the 3rd and 7th over to have them 2/27, but a 121 run third wicket partnership between Dodridge and Doecke took the game away from us.
Cara took two wickets in her fourth over and TMac and Donna took a wicket apiece.
Our batting lost impetus with wickets in the second and third overs.  TMac scored 37 – after 26 in the first game and Jess 14.
Reminders

The As play at Price Memorial on Wednesday at 5.20 with the twilight game against Sturt.
Keep up the good work with the collection of goodies for the Pink Evening / Quiz night coming up on February 13.

A WIN AT LAST ... OR TWO.... DONNA'S 100TH A GRADE GAME... BRANDI OUTSCORES SERENA.. CARA PB IN A GRADE...

At last we broke through for two wins over the weekend.
Firstly the Bs received the news that Kensis forfeited.  They were not the only B grade team to do this over the weekend. This is always a difficult weekend for teams with Under 18s away and some of the SAPSASA players and families still not back from their games in Brisbane.
The As split their double headers.
The first game saw Brandi pass Serena with top scores – her 14 no – combined with Alicia’s 8 no took the score from 54 to 82.  But Port passed us in the 9th over.
The second game provided the highlight of the season. We celebrated Donna’s 100th game with our first win for the season!

We dismissed Northern for 98 in the 19th over. Their openers Britt Perry and Rowe scored 40 off the first six overs; they had 76 in the 13th and looked set for plenty!  Cara Allen opened up Northern’s middle order taking the wicket of state rep Teagan McPharlin in her second over, opener Rowe in her third and state rep Morrison four balls later.  To top it off she completed her fourth over with the wicket of Mentha.
4/17 gave her a PB at A grade.
Wickets to Chloe Dancer (her first in A grade) a run out and a wicket Kathryn saw Northern all out for 98.
We took 8/22 in the last seven overs.
Kathryn (21) and Rachael (20) gave us a very good foundation with 43 off the first 10 overs. But the loss of Kathryn and Jess three runs later saw us behind the rate (2/46 after 11.)  Rachael and Donna put on 20 for the third wicket – at the loss of Donna’s wicket we needed 32 off 34 balls.
Kylie and Rachael took the score to 81 in the 17th but we still needed 18 off 23 balls. Kylie was at her belligerent best scoring 22 no with one four and a huge six to give us the win in the 19th over.
Brandi was very good for 3 no scampering runs and taking on the bowling when needed.
*** Kylie’s six was off the fifth ball of the second last over – we needed seven off eight balls – the six and two off the last ball gave us our first win for the season.

This week sees the Bs at Kensington.  This game may be moved to an earlier time as the Big Bash GF may be at Adelaide Oval.
The As have double headers at Adelaide Uni which will be affected by parking for the Tour Down Under – keep tuned for details on these games!!!

68!

Both teams scored 68 – the As off 20 and the Bs off almost 35.
The As took Sturt to the last over – with the winning runs scored off the first ball.
The Bs innings was highlighted with a well constructed 27 off 56 balls in 95 minutes.  On a slow running Bailey Reserve she hit two 4s. Opening the batting she put on 44 with Captain Tayla Smith (13).  Tayla hit two 4s in her 47 ball (53 minute) stay.  We were 2/52 in the 20th and were bowled out in the 35th for 68.  Erin Temme had 40 minutes in the middle for 3.

We got an early wicket with a run out in the 5th over (1/7) but Phiddion and Newmann took the game away from us passing our score in the 13th over.
We welcome Mel Koster to the Stringrays for her first B grade game.  We worked out that Mel and Tayla know each other at school etc.
Mel fielded well and had three overs for 12.
Chloe and Caitlin took a wicket apiece.
The As batted first a Christies High.  We welcomed back Tabby Saville (whose last game was out Premiership win!!!)
Tabby has been playing for the NT Country team this week in Mt Gambier (and played against Bridee!) She is in Adelaide in prep for the Under Championships this week.
We also welcomed Kathryn Bryce for her first game for the Stringrays.  Kathryn is part of the Darren Lehmann Academy.  She top scored for us with 15 and bowled four overs 1/5.
Jess continued her recent good form with 12.
We took our first wicket in the 7th over and had the Blues 4/53 in the 15th.  We bowled and fielded well to take the game into the 20th over.

State news
Ella Wilson has been involved in the National Primary Schools championships this week.

BrideeTonkin has been part of the SA Country side.  This is the first time we have been in this tournament.  The SA side beat the Vics (undefeated until the semi final) to earn a GF berth.

Good luck to Tabatha Saville and Kayla McGrath with their Under 18 state commitments over the next week.
