ELLA AND SERENA RECORD STAND..... T Mac first 50 for SA – puts SA in gf

The highlights of this weekend came from our rapidly improving B grade and the match winning performance of T Mac at state level.

               T Mac and Ella PBs this weekend!

The B grade recovered from a precarious 5/11 in the fourth over to a record breaking 6^th wicket unbroken stand of 77 to finish batting our overs.

On the way Ella Wilson achieved her PB of 48 no (previous 18) and Serena Ongley scored her PB of 13 no (previous 1 no).

Batting first Kensi Browns made 2/134 with Ella and Kylie taking the two wickets.

We were soon in trouble losing two wickets in the first over and three more in the fourth.

Ella’s innings contained 5 fours, took 55 balls, 81 minutes and she batted all but four balls of the innings.  Her fours came from strongly hit pull shots through square leg (including three in five balls), but her deft cuts and back foot drives were a feature.  She ran well with Serena, converting ones into twos well. 

Serena played her longest innings – 65 minutes, with two fours and faced 46 balls.

In the state game at Railways Oval Tahlia McGrath followed up her good performance last week with us to score her first 50 for the Scorps.  She came in at 3/15 with the loss of Captain Lauren Ebsary (and with Paterson and Taylor already out).

She put on 45 with Tegan McPharlin for the fourth wicket and was dismissed for 58 after a 99 run stand with Sarah Coyte.

She faced 118 balls and hit 3 fours on a slow running Railways Oval.  The innings lay the foundation for a busy last five with SA making 32 runs to end up with 191. We dismissed the Tassies for 160.

Tahlia’s 58 were the Highest Score at Railways Oval for the two games over the weekend the next best being 40 from Burns of Tasmania.

The Scorps head off to Sydney next weekend to take on NSW (who have won the last 11 titles!)  Good luck team.

The As made 49 with Rachael top scoring with 9.  They score them three down.
Alicia bowled well being "on a hat trick".

We have a weekend off with the Test Match next weekend.  Don’t forget the annual Stingrays Cup December 5 at the club.

T Mac back in form.... Kylie wows em in the Bs

The As ran West Torrens to two wickets and the Bs continued their improve efforts with 42 and 12 run losses.

T Mac was back to Rolton medal winning form.

 The As put up a far more competitive effort against West Torrens – having been well beaten in the T20 recently we ran the Eagles to two wickets.

We made 4/161 off our 50. T Mac was back in good form with her best score for the season.  Her opening partnership with Rachael saw us 63 in the 17^th.  We were well set at 1/103 in the 30^th over but were held to only 45 runs off the last 20 overs has West Torrens bowled and fielded very well.

We took four early wickets to have them 4/78 in the 19^th. State Under 18 rep Brooke Harris made 50 and Tayla Gordon 24 to see the Eagles steadyto be 5/136 in the 32.  T Mac took two wickets in her second spell to have them 8/148. But state captain Lauren Ebsary ( batting down the list) and tailender Ainslee Knight saw them home.

T Mac had her best bowling for the season with 4/17 and Brandi Ongley took two wickets.

The Bs took their only wicket in the first game with a ball to spare and were set 152.

Kylie came in late making 48 off 23 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes (scoring ALL RUNS in boundaries.)

The Bs got within 42 runs in game one and were within 12 in the second

The Bs continued their steady improvement with  Eesher Degvan scoring 19 and 15 in the double header games.

In the second game Tayla Smith took two wickets in three balls early in the Northern innings. 

Kylie provided the fire works in our innings with 41 off 23.  She was well supported by Ella (24 run stand) and 47* with Salomae.

On the school front:        

 Ella, Kaitlyn Heath and Chelsea all had games on Adelaide Oval and Adelaide Oval No 2 last Wednesday.  Reynella East finished 10 out of 13.

This week we have games down south with the As 12 noon at Bice and the Bs 1pm at Christies.  We are working with SACA to see if we can change to a double header.

We wish T Mac all the best with her state commitments at home next weekend.  Saturday’s game is at Railways Oval and a win should see us back in the race for top spot.

MUM'S RULE... AS STRIKE PORT IN RED HOT FORM - CHLOE A GRADER NO 41

This week saw the Bs bat their 20 overs for 85.  Kylie was at her belligerent best with 61 no off 34 balls (7 fours and 3 sixes).

But the support of the Wilson family assisted in taking the score from a perilous 6/29 in the 11^th over to 85 in the 20^th. Daughter Ella put on 22 for the 6^th wicket and Mum Jacqui added 34 (unbroken) for the 7^th.

We thank Jacqui and Mandy Seccofein (sub fielder for the Bs) who made sure we had a team in the Bs.  Our other regular Mum Kerry Davis, who is a regular, made her first runs for the season.

Eesher Devgan had her best game for the Bs hitting her first boundary and bowling four tidy overs for 14 runs.

The As came up against current favourites Port.  Former state player Tamara Clapton 61 and current state players Amanda Wellington (100) and Sam Betts (102 no) put us to the sword scoring 3/316.

Alecia Holt was the pick of the bowlers with her first eight overs going for 28.

We batted into the 48^th over.

Chloe Dancer, after some very encouraging form in the Bs, became Capped Player 41.  She fielded well and kept our Ports best bowlers for nine overs.  The bowler who eventually dismissed her was ex Australian Emma Sampson.

Milo Breaks continues to break  all records

Our final numbers for Milo are an incredible 139.  This does not include 14 girls who are part of our Girls Only Program working with Brandi.

Our registered number is now 139 of which 113 are newcomers and will 
probably return in Term 1 next year.
To give you an idea of our reach, these are the non-local suburbs from 
which they come: Ascot Park, Moana, Christie Downs, O'Sullivan Beach, 
Seaford Meadows, Port Noarlunga probably because we are the only 
southern centre offering Saturday mornings. i.e. they are bypassing 
centres run by the Noarlunga CC, McLaren Vale and Aldinga to come to 
Reynella.

Just a quick note on some feedback I am getting from our start last week:
A Braeview dad who is an OzKick coach for the Reynella FC was blown away 
by our numbers - he thought his 54 for football was good!
Another mum whose boy was there on a Come N Try basis, hesitated when he 
saw the group, for about 1 minute, then dived in and loved every minute.
He consequently signed up.
Plus a mum, whose girl was sick but will come out this Saturday for 
Girls Only, heard from another mum that we had huge numbers and said 
"Wow"!!

Bs outscore As, Salomae wicket with first ball in a game! Milo Breaks all records

The Bs continue their steep learning curve making 62.  Kylie topscored again making 23 off 18 (with her first six for the season!)  But it was Chloe Dancer who had her best game for the club.

She opened the batting and bowling.  She batted well into the 17^th over making 8.  It was her patience, strong defence and good running which were a feature of her 48 ball stay at the crease.  She also took a wicket in her second over.

Salomae Haselgrove achieved a unique highlight with her FIRST WICKET WITH HER FIRST BALL in a match! Kylie taking a smart catch at square leg.

The As got off to a good start with a wicket in the first over – but a 105 run stand between Under 18 state reps Tait Mackrill and Brooke Harris took the game into the 14^th over with the Eagles one-down. They made 130 with Alecia Holt being the most economic of our bowlers with 1/13 off four hove with a maiden.

We batted our overs for 48.  Rachael making 13 and carrying her bat.

Our very successful Milo IN2 Cricket Program at Reynella Oval broke our own and state records for the number of participants. (Previous best 65!)

We had over 120 youngsters involved in the Milo Program and the Girls Only games last weekend.

Our SACA rep   Andrew Edwards  tells us there are 140 at Mt Gambier but they are split over two days.

We have 11 coaches involved in the program which involves us coaching Year 1 and 2 students in the skills of the game.

ELLA CARRIES BAT

Sunday saw the As and Bs host Port at home.

In the early game the As started well with 24 off five overs and 48 off 11 but steadily lost wickets to be all out for 74 inside 20 overs.

Tahlia McGrath continued her good form with 40 (out of 62 when she was dismissed.)

Port passed us in the 13^th over.

An interesting sidelight was two members of the Port team.  Coach Emma Sampson is an ex – Australian rep and Naomi Maidment was a former Scorpion player.  Both were coached by Kempey at State Under Age level.

The Bs continued their steady improvement.  We batted our 20 overs with Ella Wilson carrying her bat for 18 no.

She was ably supported by Caitlin Secoffein (2) and Chloe Dancer (4 no).  Ella and Chloe put on an unbroken 47 run stand.

Port scored the runs in 11^th over.

Caitlin took the only wicket.  This was her first wicket for the club. 

She also scored her first runs for the season after 53 balls!!! (Let’s hope the next runs don’t take that long!!!)

Thanks to the A graders who stayed on after their game to assist with the warm ups for the B graders.

UPCOMING GAMES

After the efforts of Ella (Eastern F), Chelsea and Kaitlyn (Reynella East) for their respective Primary schools they will be playing in T20 finals at Adelaide Oval on November 11.

REYNELLA Milo In2Cricket starts this week.

KYLIE IN FORM - CAITLIN IMPRESSES IN SECOND GAME

Both teams started with a loss.  The Bs keeping Uni in the field to the 15^th over and the As were passed in the 12^th.

The As batted first with our reliable opening pair Tahlia McGrath (20) and Rachel Greenshields (12) scoring 37 off the first eight overs.

We succumbed to some clever spin bowling with one of  SACAs top wicket takers last year Shae Daly taking the openers and former Southern leggie Kelly Armstrong dismissing Jess and Donna.

They scored the runs in the 12^th over.

After deciding to take up coaching duties Kylie Rattray scored an impressive 36 (24 balls) in our 62 run score. (She had not played a B grade game since 2011.)

She came in at 4/9 and led the team well.  She made sure younger players including Caitlin Seccofien faced plenty of balls to get used to batting in game situations.

Our player of the match in the Bs was Caitlin Seccofein who batted over half an hour (32 balls) and supported Kylie with a 26 run stand.  She also bowled well having only five runs scored off her four overs.

Our first gamers – Chloe Dancer opened the bowling taking 0/10 off four overs, Salomae Haselgrove was energetic in the field and Kerry did not get a bat, but fielded well. Eesha did not play at a straight one and was given out lbw.

Congratulations to Sanjette Singh who became out 38 capped A grader.

 This week we expect to have the As early (12 noon) and the Bs late (3.10) both games should be at Bice.
