Women: C grade scrape in for a second win

The Cs won their second game for the season with a thrilling one run win over Sturt.

After the washouts on Saturday we were expecting a washout Sunday – but Bailey Reserve was in playable condition and courtesy of a late start we were able to scrape together seven. Fill-ins Rachael, Kylie and Nugget answered the late call up to give the Blues a game.

Batting first we made 72 with Jess Vincent hitting out for 16 no. She and Rachael put on a run a ball 33 run second wicket stand to boost the scoring rate in the final five overs.

Tianna took two wickets in her first four balls to have the Blues 2/11 in the 3rd over. But a 60 run third wicket stand almost took the game away from us. Donna Clark bowled the last over with Sturt needing four to win. A run wide off the second ball was the only score for the over – Donna took the wicket of Sturt top-scorer with the last ball of the over.

The As and Bs had a washout against Port.

We wish Tahlia and Donna all the best with their state Under 15 games in Melbourne over the next two weeks.
