They won the toss and surprising batted (with the forecast of afternoon rain.) They made 4/235 off 40 overs. Brittany Miller took the figures with 2/36 off seven overs. Cara bowled fellow SAPSASA rep Kayla Staszuk in her third over and Kayla McGrath bowled opener Alex for 62. Jacinta did a great job behind the stumps for the first time.
We finished 3/11 when the heavens opened and stopped the game.
We welcome Renee Harrison to the club – she batted well in the wet conditions late in the game and fielded well. Renee has a background in top level soccer and was more than willing to share her experiences with fellow cricket / soccer players Tahlia, Kayla and Cara.
The As made 145 in 34 of a rain reduced 36 overs. Dayna produced her PB in A grade with 41 – being well supported by Tahlia (28 run partnership) and Jess O'Reilly (47 run partnership). Marg Hay chimed in with 17 and Nuggett made 37 (including her first six.)
Northern scored the runs in 24 overs with Jess taking the two wickets to fall.
A big thank you to Gail and Kayla who subfielded for the As at short notice.
The Cs made 63 with Marg Jude making 14. Gail Ward put on 14 runs with Marg being the equal best partnership for the game.
The highlight was the 14 run (unbroken) stand between our two Mums Natalie Ongley (on debut) and Fiona Gore.
Kensington passed us in the ninth over – with wickets to the Gore twins and a stumping and a run out to Marg.
The last minor round game is next weekend with all games on Sunday. There will be a get together BBQ at Bice after the A grade. All welcome.
Don't forget the Cricket Dinner at the Tonsley March 26. Pay your deposit to Sharon or Genieveve.
