Both the As and Bs went down in last weekend's games.
The highlight was A grade leggie Kamani Gilligan who took best figures of 6/19. In her second spell she took 6/6 as the last seven Kensington wickets fell for 27 runs.
But the damage had been done earlier in the innings as three of their top four batters had scores of over 24 (including one of 87.)
Jess took two wickets and Cara and Courtney one apiece.
We were in early trouble losing 4/15 in the chase. Kylie top scored with 19, Marg Hay 17 and Nuggett 14. Special mention to Cara who was playing her second A grade game for the season who made 11 and batted over 40 minutes.
The Bs struggled in their quest for 182 against Northern. The wickets were shared with Hannah Armstrong (on loan from the Cs) claiming 2/9 and taking her season tally to 11. Kayla Staszuk and Jess Vincent also took two wickets apiece.
We started well with Kayla McGrath and Brandi Ongley putting on 21 but we lost 3/2 to put us behind the eight ball. Renee Ritchie top scored with 17. Renee was playing her first game since 2007-8 and we welcome her back to the club.
The C grade resume this week.
This week we go back to T20 with the As at Port Reserve on Sunday (3pm), Bs at Helen Black Saturday (12) and Cs at home at Bice on Sunday (12).
Over 80 people enjoyed our second ever quiz night. The Dave Greenshields led team beat the Marg Jude's team by one point. We raised over $1000 for the club towards the revamped hard wicket complex. It was great to see so many new faces at the club.
A big thank you to our organising committee and the hard work put in by Marg Hay, Sharon Rattray, Nancy Allen, Genevieve Brideson, Natalie Ongley, Paul Campbell and Shari Bray. (Thanks to the ever patient Ron!!)
A special thanks to our Quiz Masters John and Maureen from Christies Beach Mitre 10 (and their helpers) who made for a very entertaining evening.
