ADELAIDE OVAL CONFIRMED FOR FINAL - QUIZ NIGHT SUCCESS

SACA have confirmed the March 3 Grand Final of the T20 competition will be at Adelaide Oval.  We will be the curtain raiser to the men’s 50 over final.

The As and Bs both suffered defeats this weekend.

The As lost their first T20 for the season to lowly placed Sturt (who won their second T20 game for the season.)  Both teams were affected with the loss of players to the Under 18 comp in Ballarat.

We batted first scoring 68 off exactly 20 overs.  (Everyone had a bat - with Marg Hay making 15 and Rachael Greenshields 11.) We had two partnerships of 13, one of 12 and one of 11.

We conceded 24 off our first three overs and despite Hannah Armstrong taking two wickets in two balls they scored the runs with seven overs to spare.  Topscoring for Sturt was Australian rep Megan Schutt who leaves for The World Cup in Sri Lanka this week.

The Bs were set a big score of 171 by TTG/ND.  Emily Armstrong had the best figures with 3/18 off seven, with Nugget and Bakes taking two apiece.

Our run chase was highlighted by the return of Kate Weger* who topscored with 32.  Bakes made 13.  We needed six an over with 12 overs to go and overs of 5, 4, M, 7 and 8 gave us a small chance.  But the combined side took key wickets to see us fall 58 runs short.
Kate last played two seasons ago - but is A GRADE CAP NUMBER #3!

Many thanks to all involved with the Quiz night.  We had over 70 people in attendance and raised close to $800.

Special thanks to our organisers Jo Lyons and Nancy Allen and Shaun Tanner and our “pommy mates” who were the Quiz masters.

 State news:

The SA Under 18 team finished 3rd in the National Championships held in Ballarat.  We lost T20 games to Victoria and NSW, but beat WA, Qld, Tas and the ACT in 40 over games.  Tahlia McGrath had a consistent tournament as an opening bat with four scores of over 20; Kylie Rattray had two scores of over 30 (both against WA) and Tabitha Saville had a top score of 18 against WA.

No games over the Australia Day long weekend for A or B grade.
C grade games start the first weekend in Febluary.
