T Mac runaway winner in Rolton Medal
Tahlia McGrath won the 9th Annual ROLTON MEDAL at the Bradman Medal evening held at Adelaide Oval.
She becomes out first medallist since Jess O'Reilly in C grade in 2006-07.
In the count T Mac lead the voting when the "live count" started at the end of round seven. She earned maximum (6) votes in the game against Northern where she took 5 for (including four in her first three overs. This gave her a 12 point lead over competitors Hannah Perry and Bridget Patterson.
This meant she could not be beaten (but could still tie.) She earned four points on the back of a top score of 64 against Kensis. These votes put her in an unassailable position in the last round.
She eventually won by seven votes.
Tammy Beaumont scored six votes for her 100 in the last round and Kayla McGrath scored two votes in the last round for her PB of 46.

Our Tammy to captain England
CRICKET:
Kent's @Tammy_Beaumont named
captain for @ECB_cricket Women’s
Academy squad to play 4 50-over matches and 2 T20s against Australia.
(This team will play against "The Shooting Stars" - the Australian Academy side .... or Australia A.)
As finish with a win - As thwart Sturts bid for finals - Tammy has day out - Three debutants in B grade
The As grade finished
the season with an eight wicket in over arch rivals Sturt. In doing do it thwarted their efforts to make
the finals. It also saved us from the
wooden spoon.
We held The Blues to 216 off 50 overs. we bowled accurately using our slower bowlers
to take the pace off the ball. The best
with ball was Tammy Beaumont. She took
2/41 with a mixture of offies, cutters, and quicker balls. She took the key wicket of Australian rep
Megan Schutt late in the innings.
Brandi took a wicket to take her tally to a season BP of 13 wickets in A grade.
Chasing 219 we lost Tahlia in the first over (the second
time Megan has dismissed her this season).
Rachael and Tammy consolidated the innings taking the score to 92 in the
22nd over. Kayla and Tammy
took us home with a 131 run third wicket stand.
For Kayla it was her second PB in consecutive weeks – being
run out for 46 in quest of her first 50 for the club – having scored two at
state level). She batted 67 balls, 80
minutes with 5 fours.
But it was Tammy who stole the show. She enjoyed playing Megan and really
appreciated the extra pace on to the bat.
She took full toll of the Sturt off spinners taking them for better than
five an over.
Her nimble footwork and judgement of the quick single were a
feature.
Full stats
Tammy 121 no 137 balls 160 minutes 16 fours 2 sixes .
·
Tammy went from 93 to 99 with one shot
·
Her last six saw us win the game with six overs
to spare
We thank her for her work over the last three weeks. It is a great experience for our batters to
work with international players.
It was our FOURTH CENTURY
for the season.
We also thank Tammy for her work with the Reynella In2
Cricket group on Saturday morning.

The Bs were back on board after a month off. (Due to heat,
forfeits etc.). we debuted three players
– Sanjete Singh, Billy Manuel and Gypsy Shermirer (the latter two from the
recent SAPSASA and Gary Putland trials.
We played against Shari Bray ( for the second time in three weeks after she
played with Northern’s As a fortnight ago.)
Batting first we started well with 28 off the first five
overs with newcomer Sanjete Singh and Rachel Dickinson looking good. Bridee and Rachel took the score to 42 – but
we lost seven wickets quickly to be 8/49.
Kaitlyn Heath and first gamers Caitlin Seccofein and Billy Manuel held
them up to see us all out for 60.
Bridee took a wicket in the first over and first gamer Gypsy
made their openers rush their shots early.
We took further wickets at 36, 44 and 50 but they passed us in the 25th
over.

ROLTON MEDAL
With a close look at the stats this seems to be race in two
between Tahlia and Nothern’s Hanna Perry.
It will depend on how the umpires have seen T Mac’s performances in the
games we lost.

A’s almost again! K Mac BP this week ....Bs first win
The As went
into the game against Kensis with a chance to be the only Southern side with a
chance to make finals. ( All mens and
junior sides were out of the running.)
Kensis
batted first losing a wicket to a Cara Allen run out in the second over. We dismissed state player Bridget Paterson in
the 8th over to have them 2/25.
A 60 run partnership between Lowe and Pope took them to 3/85 in the 22nd
over. We kept pressure on in the middle
over to have them 5/133 in the 40th over.
But they
scored 86 in the last 10 overs to give them 222.
Former
England International ( and 2013/14 state player) Beth Morgan (45) and experienced
Amy Wiseman (42 no) did the damage.
We lost the
early wicket of Rachael in the 3rd over. Tammy Beaumont (34) and T Mac (64) put on 104
for the second wicket to see us 1/111 in the 21st over. This gave us a good launching pad.
The T Mac
innings ( which she described as “ a bit scratchy early”) she took herself to
590 runs for the season 265 runs ahead of second placed Lauren Ebsary with one game
to play.
She is also
the top runscorer in the at Southern

Tammy’s
opening scoring shot was a four – this was her first runs on Australian soiling
(making a duck last week and a further duck
in the State trial game yesterday. ) She
showed us her power game, nimble footwork to the spinners and deft use of
the short single to third man.
The second partnership
which gave us a sniff was a 45 run stand between Anna Kerrison and Kayla McGrath. Kayla came
in at the lost of Tammy’s wicket and put on 13 with her sister. She dominated the partnership with Anna
batting for over an hour hitting six
fours and batting with surety and confidence. Her score of 40 was a PB in A
grade.
But with the
lost of Anna we lost four wickets in 16 balls to see the Kensi side well on
top.

The Bs won
their first 50 over game – but not quite the way we wanted to… with Port
telling us of a forfeit on Saturday evening…we play our first game for a month on SATURDAY.

A’s agonizingly close T Mac PB again – with ball this week (what is the secret)
The A's had the premiership favourites on the ropes but could not pull off a win.
We fielded first and TMac produced a withering spell. She took two wickets in her first over and followed
with two more in her third to have the top team 4/5 after five overs. Newcomer Tammy Beaumont took two exceptional
catches at slip (and followed up with an opportunistic run out later in the
innings.)
(Last year T Mac took 16 wickets - this year 14 with two to play.)
Northern recovered with a 49 run fifth wicket stand to take
them to 54. We had them 7/61 with a
wicket to T Mac (to give her five). But
a defiant ninth wicket stand anchored by former Stingray Shari Bray saw them
dismissed for 103.
T Mac’s five wickets took her to 14 for the season. She is currently leading the BATTING AND
BOWLING awards with two rounds to go. She
won the SACA bowling last season.
Her 5/19 off eight overs was a Personal Best in A grade and her first MICHELLE (five fa) at the highest level. (She has 5/2 and 6/24 at B grade.)
Her 5/19 off eight overs was a Personal Best in A grade and her first MICHELLE (five fa) at the highest level. (She has 5/2 and 6/24 at B grade.)
T Mac started our innings where she left off last week with two fours in
the first over. Our first 10 runs were scored of six balls our next 10 took
eight overs as we struggled to get away the accurate Northern bowlers. State spinner Hannah Perry took 3/14 of 10
conceding only three scoring shots in 60 balls.
We were 4/24 in the 10th over. Anna Kerrison (12) and Kayla McGrath (17) put
us back in the game with a 24 run stand for the 5th wicket. They were patient and chose their shots
well. But with the loss of those two wickets
we could not establish a match winning stand.
Kylie (19) and Cara took us to 79 and a last wicket stand of eight saw
us 13 runs short.
The result and the win of Sturt sees us one game out of the
four with two to play.
(T Mac's secret brekky!!!) There are two dozen in the McGrath freezer for the rest of the season and beyond.
The Bs had problems with injuries, work and unavailability
of players. But we will be ok for the
last two rounds.
This week the As have Kensington at Bice and the Bs have
Port at Gordon Brown.
The SAPSASA games at
Reynella went well on Thursday with a guest appearance from TMac. We expect to debut two players from this
group over the next two weeks.
Our Reynella coaching has two weeks to run (Kanga has three)
and we welcome Ethan Grzyb to our stable of coaches.
