A’s almost again! K Mac BP this week ....Bs first win

The As went into the game against Kensis with a chance to be the only Southern side with a chance to make finals.  ( All mens and junior sides were out of the running.)

Kensis batted first losing a wicket to a Cara Allen run out in the second over.  We dismissed state player Bridget Paterson in the 8th over to have them 2/25.  A 60 run partnership between Lowe and Pope took them to 3/85 in the 22nd over.  We kept pressure on in the middle over to have them 5/133 in the 40th over.

But they scored 86 in the last 10 overs to give them 222.
Former England International ( and 2013/14 state player) Beth Morgan (45) and experienced Amy Wiseman (42 no) did the damage.
We lost the early wicket of Rachael in the 3rd over.  Tammy Beaumont (34) and T Mac (64) put on 104 for the second wicket to see us 1/111 in the 21st over.   This gave us a good launching pad.
The T Mac innings ( which she described as “ a bit scratchy early”) she took herself to 590 runs  for the season 265 runs ahead of second placed Lauren Ebsary with one game to play.
She is also the top runscorer in the at Southern

Tammy’s opening scoring shot was a four – this was her first runs on Australian soiling (making a duck last week  and a further duck in the State trial game yesterday. )  She showed us her power game, nimble footwork to the spinners and deft use of the short single to third man.

The second partnership which gave us a sniff was a 45 run stand between Anna Kerrison and Kayla McGrath.  Kayla came in at the lost of Tammy’s wicket and put on 13 with her sister.  She dominated the partnership with Anna batting for  over an hour hitting six fours and batting with surety and confidence. Her score of 40 was a PB in A grade.
We needed 57 with 14 overs remaining.

Anna gave excellent support with a picket fence for 10 ( all singles.)

But with the lost of Anna we lost four wickets in 16 balls to see the Kensi side well on top.

The Bs won their first 50 over game – but not quite the way we wanted to… with Port telling us of a forfeit on Saturday evening…we play our first game for a month on SATURDAY.
