The A grade completed their second win this year with a four
wicket win over long time rivals Sturt.
Batting first the Blues were 1/76 in the 16th
over and following the same pattern of the recent T20 game where they finished
5/159 off 20. We took 3/9 in five overs to put the brakes on a big score.
Kathryn Bryce (two wickets) and Alecia Holt (one) slowed the scoring rate and
meant they needed to re-build the innings.
T Mac took the valuable wicket of Peate to have them 5/98 in the 25th.
Despite a 24 run 6th wicket partnership and a 25 run 7th
wicket stand we were able to hold them to 138.
T Mac cleaned up the tail with two wickets in three balls in her 9th over.
The mid innings work of Alecia 2/32 and Kathryn 2/34 were
very important. Donna took the early
wicket of Bartlett and broke the 7th wicket partnership to have her
best figures for the season.
In the run chase we lost Jess in the first over, but for the
next 25 overs T Mac and Kathryn put on 90 to set up the win.
Kathryn continued her very good form with 39 ( after scores
of 43no,50,21 and 15 in her games for us this year.)
T Mac was back to her best with 74 no (her PB for the
season) with six 4s. The highlight of
the partnership was some very good running between the wickets. We lost four
more wickets in the run chase but passed them six down in the 42nd
over.
T Mac won her second Febluary medal.
The tale of the Bs was ….Oh for a roller!!!!!…. Our roller
over at Christies has broken down…. But the information on the unavailability
of the ground was not conveyed to us. The men had a bye yesterday and the
ground had not been played on for a fortnight. We offered Port a hard wicket
option which was declined.
Don’t forget Quiz night Saturday evening…. and our
traditional Febluary game against the Police Blues on Tuesday 16th.
