The highlight for the weekend came from the Bs.
First gamer Jessica Modistach batted over an hour in her
first ever competitive innings and veteran (aged 11!) Kaitlyn Heath showed the
essence of Febluary with an inspired 62 run stand in 60 minutes which took us
out of outright territory.
Coming in at 7/26 (in the 16th over) Kaitlyn
showed maturity and patience in her PB score of 27 no. She was partnered by first gamer Jessica
Modistach. Jess’s innings was described by
one of the umpires as a “you bowl to me”
innings. She played the balls on
the stumps and let the others go. She took over an hour to post her first run –
39 balls faced.
Sending the Northerners in we had them 4/40 in the 13th
over courtesy of Kaitlyn Heath who took two wickets in her third over (on top
of one in her second!)
But they recovered to post a par score of 138.
Kaitlyn was well supported by Dicko and Tayla with two
wickets apiece.
We got off to a bad start losing three wickets in the first
six overs.
Dicko batted well for 12, but the Kaitlyn / Jess partnership
stole the show.
In the As T Mac continued her good for with 29 and 4/21(including
the wickets of ex state player Tamara Clapton and current state reps Amanda Wellington
and Sam Betts.
At one stage in our innings we were 2/61 in the 22nd
over, but Amanda Wellington 3/15 and Amy Norris 3/3 cleaned up our tail to be
all out for 71.
We had Port 6/61 in reply ,but former Australian rep Emma
Sampson sealed the game with a quickfire 43 no at Number 8.
Don’t forget this Tuesday – our annual Febluary game against
the Boys in Blue at Bice starting at 5.20 or so.
Jess O’Reilly is playing for us and Kathryn Bryce will be
representing the police.
Milo In2 cricket starts at Reynella Oval this Saturday. Kaitlyn and debutant Jess to the rescue…..
As battle hard
Don’t forget Tuesday!
