C GRADE GIRLS WIN FIRST OUTRIGHT EVER!

The C grade girls won their first outright in three seasons with a 10 wicket win over Tea Tree Gully.

(Even in our premiership year we could not get an outright!!)

We set up the win bowling out TTG for 30 in just under 20 overs.  Kylie Dannenberg took 4/10 off six overs.  All bowlers bowled tightly with Brandi Ongley taking two wickets in four balls being a highlight.  We fielded well three catches at short cover (two to Rachael Greenshields and one to Amy White.)

We batted until ten minutes after tea to lead by 49.  "Nuggett" Adams scored 35 for the second game in a row (31 balls) with great support from Courtney Brideson 20 (PB) and Emma Genockey continued her good form with 8.

Giving ourselves two hours to bowl out TTG we took wickets at regular intervals – having The Gullies 7 for 30 at one stage.  But an eighth wicket stand of 19 meant we had to bat again.  Jess Vincent (4/3) and Rachael Greenshields (2/7) were both "on a hat trick".  Jess broke the eighth wicket stand to open up the tail.

Lauren Goldsmith and Tianna Muirhead scored the 4 needed to win in 10 balls to give us the win with 15 minutes up our sleeve.

The points earned from the game should keep us above 5th placed Sturt and 6th placed TTG to give us  at least 4th place in the race for the  finals in three weeks time.

Last week we had a good win over Sturt.

We made 7 for 115 ( with eight batters.)  Nic Adams made her PB with 35 and a 24 run 7th wicket stand between Donna Clark (20no) and Brandi Ongley (6) secured the win.

We bowled Sturt out for 98 – but with Sturt being 5 for 80 with 12 overs left we did not have the game all our own way.  Courtney Brideson's key wicket of Sturt Captain Maddy Hughes (36) gave Nic Adams the chance to clean up the tail.

FEBLUARY PLAYER OF THE MATCH   Nic "Nuggett" Adams.
