As and Bs strike the Blues - Cs beat top team

In the ALL STURT WEEKEND our As and Bs lost their T20 games but the Cs came up trumps.

The C grade win over the previously undefeated Sturt was dominated by Kayla McGrath who top-scored with 27 no and was our destroyer taking 3/5 off 3.4 overs (all bowled!!!!)

The win was set up in the early stages with some very good bowling from opening bowlers Kelly and Hannah Armstrong who held Sturt to 12 off their first five overs.  We took wickets at regular intervals with Emily Armstrong taking two and Amy White one before Kayla came on and mopped up the tail.

We started aggressively in our innings scoring 16 off the first two overs.  Hannah Armstrong (12 – with two boundaries) and Amy White (8) put on 29 for the first wicket in six overs to give us the upper hand.  Kayla McGrath and Kelly Armstrong were the two batters in when we passed their score in the 11th over.  A 13 run last wicket stand between Linda (mum) and Kayla in 18 balls was the cream on the cake.

In A grade the Sturt openers put on 115 for the first wicket to have us behind the eight ball.  We did not take a wicket until the 18th over.  Nuggett batted well again for 36 (44 balls) but we lost wickets in the quest for quick runs.  Jess O'Reilly and Kylie Rattray 12 (12 balls) were solid contributors.

The Bs could not continue last week's good form over Sturt.  The Blues made 7/63. Jess Vincent bowled well again taking 2/3 off three overs and Rachael Greenshields and Robyn LeCornu were accurate with a wicket a piece.  We lost early wickets and could not get ourselves back in the game.  Robyn held the batting together making 22 no and Joy Brown and Robyn put on 20* for the last wicket.
