Meanwhile, Southern District hosted Port Adelaide during last weekend's round of the Powerade Twenty20 Cup. Having won the toss Southern District Captain Joylene Brown elected to bowl first in a hope to dismiss Port Adelaide cheaply. 11-year-old Hannah Armstrong opened the bowling for Southern in only her fourth match for the club and managed to dismiss both opening batters with her first over. Hannah was not finished terrorizing the Magpie batting line-up as she took another wicket during her third over leaving Port Adelaide in trouble at 3/4. In her fourth and final over Hannah managed to dismiss another Magpies batter leaving her with incredible figures of 4/5. Port
Southern District batted well during their innings and after batting out their allotted overs finished with 4/85. This was the Stingrays third win for the season. Other strong performers during this round of the Powerade Twenty20 Cup were Kensington's Tiffani Thackeray who scored 30 not out and Kayla Staszuk (Southern District) who scored an unbeaten 27 runs.
Ben and Hannah will be automatically included in the Powerade Junior Team of the Year and will be awarded a 'Powerade Junior Cricketer of the Round' pack at their respective clubs. They will also be invited to attend a function at the Adelaide Oval at the end of the season, acknowledging them, along with other nominees throughout the year, of their outstanding performances over the season.
