The As had their first win the 50 over competition (in a heat shortened 20 over game!) with a convincing six wicket win over Kensington.
The Bs lost to finals contender West Torrens.
Batting first the As held the Browns to 7/63 off their 20 overs. We took a wicket in the third over and never let the Kensis batters settle. Tahlia took 2/3 in her four over spell and she had good support from the fielders with Cara taking a catch and getting a run out.
Tahlia and Rachael gave us the perfect start in quest of 3 an over to be 35 in the 8th. They set the base for the quick scoring and controlled hitting which followed. Dayna 32 (off 29) and Kylie 43 no (28) played their best innings for the season. We passed their score in the 15th over (four down) and batted on to finish with 4/127.
Kylie’s innings was highlighted by a 25 run over where she hit 6, 4, 4, 6, 4, 1
The Bs came up against fellow finals contender West Torrens. The Eagles batted first making 5/137 on the back of first gamer Vanessa Picker who made 84. Our bowlers toiled hard and dismissed players around her with Kelly Armstrong taking 2/36 (taking her to 18 for the season across three grades) and Brittney Miller again bowling well for 1/25.
Our openers Courtney Brideson (13) and Nuggett (50) put on 80 in 16 overs but the task was beyond us despite a late furry from Marg Hay (9no).
The Bs have the bottom three sides on the table over the next three games and are expected to finish in the finals. We are after 2nd or 3rd spot.
Next week the As have their catch up T20 against East Torrens on Saturday, the 50 over game against Sturt at Helen Black on Sunday at 11.50 and the Bs play Kensington at Gordon Brown at 1 pm on Sunday. C graders will have Supa 6 smash games at Parkinson Oval complex at 12 noon.
Good luck to Robyn LeCornu who will represent SA at the Border Medal in Melbourne tomorrow night. Robyn has been given the Cricket Australia Volunteer of the Year Award for her services to Cricket over the last 50 years.
