TAHLIA DOMINATES - Bs drop one - Glen has 100s to burn!

The As put up a brave chase, the Bs dropped their first game for 2012 and Glen Ongley completed a rare triple feat in news this week.

The As fell 38 runs short in their run chase against West Torrens.

West Torrens batted first making 247 off 47.3 overs.  Dayna Cox dismissed State captain Lauren Ebsary for 44.  But state squad members Oakenfold (44) and Moritz (51) gave them a sound base.  Youngsters Kayla McGrath, Kelly Armstrong (1/8 off six) and Hannah Armstrong (2/2 off her last two overs) cleaned up the tail with four wickets falling in five overs for four runs.

We lost an early wicket but the Hannah Armstrong (4 off 59 balls in 77 minutes) and Tahlia McGrath (84) took us out of the outright loss territory.  Hannah was able to stand up to all the Torrens bowlers could bowl at her – including State captain Lauren Ebsary.  She earned the respect of her team mates and opponents alike for her courage and sound technique.

Tahlia produced a Personal Best innings of 84 (16 short of a diamond!).  She batted well with good driving and stylish shots off her legs.  Her 153 minute innings included 11 fours and was completed in 142 balls.

Jess O’Reilly (44 off 34) and Kylie Rattray (20 no off 13) gave us a chance but 70 off the last four overs was just beyond us.

The Bs dropped their first game for 2012 being passed two down by top team Adelaide Uni.

Batting first we made 7/66 off our forty overs on a very slow Christies High.  Linda Shaw (19) and Robyn LeCornu (9) got us off to a good start with 30 – but we could not force home the advantage.

We got two early wickets (2/14 in the 7th) but a 73 run third wicket stand saw them pass us in the 23rd over. Linda Shaw took the figures with 3/18 and Brandi Ongley took 2/25 to take her to eight for the season.

A big thank you to Rachael Greenshields who assisted by sub fielding in the B grade at very short notice.

Our very own Glen Ongley (Brandi’s Dad and our B grade scorer) has completed a rare feat with 100s in his last three innings for Noarlunga C grade in the Saturday games.

This week our As play at Park 25 Saturday and have a catch up T20 game against East Torrens Sunday.  The Bs take on finals contender West Torrens at Henley High and the C grade girls have some Supa 6 Smash Cricket at The Playing fields on Sunday.
