The A grade opened the season with an 11 run win over last
year’s Grand Finalist’s West Torrens.
Under newly appointed Captain Dayna Cox we won the toss and
batted scoring 5/114 of our 20 overs.
Jess O’Reilly carried her bat for an unbeaten 52 no (62 balls) to play
the sheet anchor role.
She was well supported by Kylie Rattray 19 (22 balls) and
Georgia Weatherspoon (4) sharing in a 32 run stand and Marg Hay 7 (4
balls). Marg and Jess took 22 of the
last two overs to get us to 114.
We took the wickets of state reps Moritz and Oakenford in the
first seven overs to have us in the game.
Tahlia bowled well for 1 for 4 off three overs to take the
figures. But it was Kylie Rattray in
her new role as keeper who turned the game with two critical stumpings as she
threw down the stumps standing back to medium pacers Cara Allen and Dayna Cox.
Cara Allen bowled a critical last over to seal the win.
Both umpires and opposition commented on our improved
fielding. (thanks to Glen!)
Next week we wish Tahlia well in her first full weekend on
State duties in Brisbane with the Scorpions.
Games next week at Ford Oval Kensington are at 10 am (B
grade) and 1.10 pm for the As. (Both games are on Sunday)
