As win two in a row – Donna wins international honours – T Mac gives SA a tie!!!

As win two in a row – Donna wins international honours – T Mac gives SA a tie!!!

The A grade have given us the best start to a season ever with another nail biting eight run win in Round 2 of the T20s.

Batting first Marg Hay got us off to a flyer with 24 off 19 to have us 2/47 in the 10th over.  Dayna played the sheet anchor role 38 off 62 and Kylie 28 off 35 put on an unbroken 68 run partnership to see us 2/115 after 20.  (one run more than last week!)

Donna Clark fresh from her South African success gave us the perfect start with two wickets in her first eight balls.  But they got away from us in the next eight overs to be 3/74 after 10 overs.  We played ourselves back into the game with in the next three overs taking three wickets to have them 6/93 in the 14th over.  Dayna Cox took the important wicket of opener Amy Wiseman 39 off 33 in the 16th over to almost seal the victory.  Kylie produced her third stumping in two games to finish the game.

The Bs were not so lucky going down by five runs in a run chase.

We made the perfect start taking  3 for 4 off the first five overs with two wickets to Kayla Staszuk and one to Brandi.  But newcomer Plumridge took the game into competitive territory and later out of our hands with 22 off 24 balls.  They made 5/74 off 20 overs.

We lost wickets early to be 3/22 in the 7th over.  Brandi and returnee Samantha Dowling 22 (24) took it to 3/62 (needing 13 off five overs) to have us within touch.  But we lost two wickets in the next three overs to just fall short.  Brandi carried her bat for 25 no off 49 balls.

This week the As have their first 50 over game v Sturt at Helen Black. (11.50 start)

The Bs will be at Christies for a T20 against Sturt (12 noon start)

Donna Clark’s trip to South Africa went well with the Australian Under 16 side winning the World Title and Donna making the International Team of the Tournament.

T Mac played her first full weekend of state cricket  - hitting two runs off the last ball of the Friday T20 to tie the game and take 2 for… and make 40 in the 50 over game Saturday.

Welcome to Stacey Walton for her first B grade game for us over the weekend.

And a warm re-welcome to Samantha Dowling who returns to us after four seasons with Kangarilla. Sam was an original Stingray playing with Jess, Dayna and Courtney in the first games of Under 13s Scorpions shield.
