The As continued their domination of the T20 competition
with a 43 run win over perennial rivals Sturt.
This makes FIVE IN A ROW with three to play.
We won the toss and batted (5th game in a row in
this competition.) starting slowly being 1/35 at the end of 10 overs at 15
overs we were 3/74. But a 57 run (34
balls) partnership between Marg Hay 15 off 16 and Kylie Rattray 59 (36) took
the game away from the Blues.
Kylie’s innings of 59 (her top score for the season)
included 8 fours and 3 sixes. The three sixes came in five balls from former
State bowler Fiona McDonald in the last three overs of the innings.
Jess O’Reilly and Dayna Cox were provided very good support
with 11 and 15 respectively followed by
a catch and two stumpings in one over.
(Kylie now has NINE STUMPINGS for the season.)
Youngsters Kelly Armstrong and Kayla McGrath cleaned up the
Sturt innings in the 13-16th overs taking five wickets for seven
runs including opener Eliza Bartlett for 33.
Kylie’s stats are worth looking at for the season
She has made 204 runs averaging
68 per innings at a run rate of 136 runs per 100 balls. She has also taken 14
dismissals in five games (7 stumpings, 3 catches and 3 run outs)
The Bs got out of jail in the Sunday game – winning with two
runs off the last ball.
Fielding first Port set us 100 off 20 overs. Reflex catches from Joy Brown and Sam Dowling
were the highlights of our fielding.
Chloe took 2/12 and Brandi bowled tightly to their top order.
Brandi got us off to a flyer
with 25 off 24 balls (16 off the first two overs!), Cara continued her good
form with 18 and Kayla Staszuk made her best score for the season with 15. We looked pretty well set at 2/71 in the 14th
needing 30 off seven overs. But the loss
of Kayla and in the 18th Cara slowed our progress. Emily Armstrong made six and Sam Dowling 9no
to see us home.
Sam had the pressure on her in
the last over with six needed off the last two balls – she hit a four off the second
last and scrambled two on a misfield to see us 4/100 off our 20.
We have a role at the Christies Open market day on Saturday
and A grade and B grade games at Christies High on Saturday and Sunday.
