“ALWAYS BEWARE THE INJURED BATTER!”

Nicole “Nugget” Adams played one her best innings for Southern with an unbeaten 41 no off 98 balls.  Batting with a repairs from a recently broken thumb which she re-injured a day before the game she batted with great determination and concentration.

Coming in at 3/18 she batted 100 minutes as we ended our innings all out for 91 in the 39th over.
Northern batted first making 8/126 off their 40 overs.  Bridee Tonkin continued her good form (and her second three wicket haul in consecutive games) to finish with career best figures f 3/16 off eight overs.

We held them in the last 10 overs to only 27 runs.  Nugget also chimed in with 2/10 off six overs.
With our first five batters back in the shed for 18 Nugget and Ella Wilson (PB 10 off 49 balls 60 minutes) put on 49 to give is a small chance of scoring the runs.  We were 5/68 with 61 needed off 10 overs.  We scored five an over for the next three overs – but it was just out of reach.  Nikki Moyle gave good support with a 22 runs stand.
*** a cheer went through the B graders as we edged our way past 44!!!!

The As dismissed Australian rep Megan Schutt with the second ball of the second over, but that was the best news all day.  Sturt made 114 with the wickets shared between Alicia, Tahlia, Chloe and Rachel.  Megan had her revenge on Tahlia with T Mac scoring her first duck for over two seasons!
We were dismissed for 44 with Jess top scoring with 12.

Watch and listen for news of this weekend.  The Scorpions play on Friday and many members of the SA Cricketing community are venturing interstate for the game.  This includes members of opposition teams.  The final of the T 20 comp was due to be held on Adelaide Oval on Monday and three games are scheduled on Sunday.
There is a meeting with SACA Monday evening to resolve the problem.
