STATE NEWS

No cricket over the weekend for Southern due to the rain.
The rain on Thursday and persistent rain on Saturday prevented the preparation of Christies High and Gordon Brown Ovals for Sunday’s games.
The only cricket was SA Scorpions games played on Adelaide No2 (Sunday) and Adelaide Oval before the Strikers game on Monday.
The normal pattern of games (Fri – T20, Sat 50 over and Sun T20) was changed to accommodate a curtain raiser for the Men’s T20 on Monday evening.
The Scorpions win on Sunday put them clearly in the finals (for the first time since 2007-08) on their own merit.  They had already qualified, due to other results, but the win meant they finished third – with a game against Queensland in Brisbane.
In the NSW innings of 236 (48.5 overs) Tahlia took the last two wickets in her second spell to finish with 2/51 of 6.5 overs. Sarah took a stumping.  In the SA chase Sarah batted No 3 making 44 off 56 and sharing and 83 run stand with opener Teagan McPharlin (65) and give us a good base at 2/146 in the 29th. Tahlia made 9 off 15 seeing SA 5/206 in the 42nd.  Captain Lauren Ebsary 50 no saw  SA home in the 49th over.

The first of the T20 games was abandoned.  The second saw Sarah top score with 40 off 40 balls as we scored 6/104.  In the run chase NSW scored the 46 they needed in a rain affected game.

This week weather permitting the As play Sturt at Bice in a T20 and the Bs play one of the Northern teams at Salisbury (1pm start.)
