The B grade enter the finals in winning form after a convincing 129 run win over last year’s premiers East Torrens.
We batted first but were in early trouble being 4/24. Good partnerships between Marg Hay (84) and Courtney Brideson (13) 26, Robyn Lecornu (8no)/ Emily Armstrong (8) 48, Nicole Baker (20) 58 and 16 between Brandi Ongley (6) and Brittney Miller (8) gave us 9/174.
Marg batted into the 36th over and took the sting out of the East Torrens attack. She only hit six boundaries and was suffering from cramp as she tried to accelerate the scoring.
We had The Easterners 5/15 after our opening bowlers finished their opening spell of eight overs and looked set for a second innings, but they kept us in the field until just after 5pm. Courtney continued her good wicket taking form with 3/3. She was well backed up by Brandi 2/12 and Linda Shaw 2/5.
The B grade go into the finals finishing second. This is great effort from this team as we only won one game in the T20 comp before Christmas.
This week we play West Torrens at a venue to be decided on Tuesday.
The As were brave in defeat for the second game in a row.
Bowling first we failed to take a wicket until the 28th over and after that took eight!
Dayna Cox, Hannah Armstrong and Georgia Weatherspoon took two apiece to hold the top side to 218. We lost early wickets to be 4/49 in the 23rd over. Good partnerships between Georgia Weatherspoon (27) and Kylie Rattray (54) 66, Jess O’Reilly (50 no) and Georgia (30) and 23 between Jess and Hannah took us to 199 off our 50 overs.
Kylie continued her good form of recent weeks with her third 50 since for 2012.
Don’t forget FRIDAYS PRESENTATION EVENING. BYO DINNER AND CHAIR.
