As in GF of T20

The A grade completed their pre-Christmas campaign with a convincing win over Port.

The win guarantees us a spot in the T20 GF at Adelaide Oval on March 3.

We have 90 points from our six games (6-0) compared with Kensington 60 points (4-2) who sit in 3^rd spot. We have a superior percentage.  Kensington also have to play second placed TTG / Northern.

All teams have two games to play.

Our win was set up by some superb bowling and fielding – Dayna had the State squad member  Alicia Dean caught behind for 1 with her first ball and despite some useful partnerships they dismissed for  87.

Jess bowled well to take 3/14 and Kelly Armstrong took 2/12 – with Dayna taking the two state players Dean and Picker.

Our batting was led superbly by Rachael Greenshields who top scored with 35 no.  This was Rachael’s PB in A grade and was scored off 41 balls (5 fours).  She drove well with deft footwork and played her trademark shots off her legs to devastating effect.

Jess gave great support (27) to have an opening partnership of 70.

At one stage it looked like an all wicket repeat of last week’s B grade win over the same side but Jess was run out within sight of victory.

Kylie put the “cream on the cake” with two sixes off the three balls she faced to finish the game.

(We think they may have had small Christmas card  messages on them to the state selectors!!!!!)

 

The Christmas break sees us top of the T20 (6-0) and fourth in the 50 over comp (2 wins 2 losses and a washout) to have the best start to a season ever!!!

The Bs finished fourth in the T20 comp with three wins to have their best first half of the season.

We wish Tahlia, Kylie and Tabitha all the best for their upcoming Under 18s championship in Ballarat.

And all the best for the festive season and 2013 can not come on quickly enough for the Women’s teams.

The Bs resume on January 13 with the As resuming a week later.

The break may give some players the chance to play in the senior men’s grades. Enjoy… and see what you can learn from some of the wise players who have played at the top level.
