The As lost to fourth placed Kensington making 76 with the
Browns passing us three down.
Captain Dayna Cox was superb in the field with four catches
(three blinders!!) and great ground fielding.
We batted first making with Tahlia batting well for 21 – but
we could not get any momentum.
Sturt passed us three down with Donna taking two
wickets. Sturt declared 6/165 giving us 90
minutes to bat.
We negotiated until 5.30 saving the outright.
We wish Tahlia well with her hospital visit over the next
week or so.
Reminder for Tuesday night –
State captain Lauren Ebsary will represent Southern for the first time in the
Febluary game against the Police at Bice Oval on Tuesday evening.
The Cs double header saw us lose to Kensington and Sturt.
Game one saw us make 7/60 (8.57) with Emily making 20 and
Brandi 17. Kensis replied with 6/156 with Brandi taking three wickets.
The second game saw us chase Sturt's 3/91. Nikki Moyle top scored with 25 (with two 6s!!!)
in our 5/110. Abbey had her PB with 12
and Brandi and Emily made 22 apiece in a 44 run last wicket stand.
It was great to see the Sturt team represented by Nairn
Cricket Club who has had a girl’s team for the last three seasons.
Thanks to Brandi and Emily who led the team well and set a
great example.
Thanks to the players who
represented us at the annual Bangka Sunday memorial service at the SA Women’s
Memorial Playing Fields on Sunday. (Our
six reps were the highest of any club.)
This week everyone plays on Sunday with the As at Port Reserve,
Bs at Bice and Cs at Bailey Reserve.
