The As played their best cricket this year to see them give
Sturt a big fright at Price.
We batted first with Rachel Greenshields making 21. She and Tahlia gave us a solid start of
27. By the 23rd over we were
5/73. A 55 run stand between Kayla
McGrath (34) and Anna Kerrison (22) took us to 128 with 11 overs to bat. Cara Allen continued her good form with 11 no
(after 40 last week in the Bs) to see us post a competitive 152.
For Kayla it was her best score for Southern this
season. Anna gave her excellent support
with good running between the wickets.
Both players batted over 60 balls and an hour.
We took an early wicket 1/1, and had the Blues 5/84. A couple of half chances and five overs when they
took the game away from us saw them pass us in the 42nd over.
The Bs took two early wickets against Kensi Brown. A 76 run stand took them to 86 in the 19th
over, but 62 from former Southern player Marg Hay made 62 at a run a ball to
set us 5/227.
We lost wickets at regular intervals in the first innings. Nikki Moyle 24 balls and Ella Wilson 25 balls
put up a good fight.
We staved off an outright with captain Rachael Dickinson
making 20.
We thank Marg Hay for the return of TWO BAGGY REDS. This included the infamous “lost” Number 33
which is now owned by Marg Jude.
Don't forget the annual game against the Police on Tuesday evening as part of Febluary.
The annual Bangka Sunday Memorial Service will be held at the SA Women's Playing Field on Sunday at 10 am.
