The As had their first win in the 50 over competition for
over two seasons with a 34 run over Port.
The win was highlighted with a RECORD BREAKING 203 run first
wicket stand between Rachael Greenshields (44
PB) and Tahlia McGrath (148). For
Tahlia it was her second century for the season with 19 fours and four 6s. It takes her to the top of the SACA runs for
A grade with 394 runs –with state Captain Lauren Ebsary 129 runs behind.
The 203 run stand was our highest partnership for ANY WICKET
for the Women’s teams, it is our HIGHEST PARTNERSHIP for any wicket at Southern
this season and equals the CLUB RECORD for the first wicket for the club.
T Mac and Rachael batted into the 35th over
batting at almost a run a ball in the 42 degree heat. For Rachel it was a
continuation of her good form (after 21 last week against Sturt) and a PB.
Kayla McGrath 29 and Jess O’Reilly 20 kept up the momentum as we finished with our
top score in A grade of 7/281 off our 50.
Cara had Port opening bat Kirsty Williams stumped in the
second over, current state player Sam Betts (76) and former state player Alecia
Dean (58) looked like they may take the game away from us. But a good spell from Donna (1/17 off seven) slowed the
momentum. Our slower bowlers Rachel
Greenshields 3/39 and Kayla McGrath 1/42 took key wickets and cleaned up the
tail.
10 year old Ella Wilson became A grade player Number 39 with
her debut game. She has been playing
very well in the Bs with some very encouraging performances.
This week the As are at home to West Torrens and the Bs are
off to Kensington to play their Brown side. Both games are on Sunday.
Don’t forget the McGrath Foundation Breast Cancer awareness Games
evening on Febluary 21 after Presos.
