The A grade played themselves into a good position but could not quite take the points in their T20 game over Port.
We fielded first – with Port making 3/117 of their 20. We had them 3/57 in the 10th – but a 60 run – run a ball 3rd wicket stand took them to a respectable just under six an over.
Our bowling was steady, with wickets to Kylie, Alex and Dayna.
Our top four batters all got starts. Tahlia got off the mark for the season with a patient 22, Dayna 13 (three fours) and Jess 18 (17 balls) gave support to Kylie Rattray's cameo innings of big hitting!
Kylie hit 31 off 14 balls with three towering sixers over the 55 metre boundaries. The McGrath / Rattray partnership (47 in 36 balls) took us to 2/97 in the 16th over. We needed 22 off the last 30 balls – but the loss of quick wickets slowed the runs to a trickle.
Both teams have a bye next week.
State news from this week -
Donna Clark and Tahlia McGrath won state selection in the SA Under 15 team which travels to Brisbane in December. Kylie Rattray is a reserve.
