A’s in last over win …Cs make it a hat trick
Both As and Cs had wins this weekend.
The As broke through for their first win of the season with a nail biting last over win over nemesis team Sturt.
We won the game on penalty runs awarded by the Umpires BEFORE THE LAST OVER started. In chasing 114 we were 6/107 with six balls remaining. But the last over started at 6.02 with the umpires penalizing Sturt for a slow over rate and granting us SIX PENALTY RUNS to leave us with 113 and two runs to score off the last over for the win. We scored singles off the first two balls to secure the win. Marg Hay was in sparkling form with 29 no and Cara Allen 9no took us from 5/56 (with 10 overs to go)…. to a win with balls to spare!!!!
We bowled tightly early to keep Sturt to 1/11 of five overs and 2/43 off ten. They scored 70 off the last 10 to end up with 113. Dayna bowled tightly for 1/13 off four.
For the As Chloe Lyons got the late call up to receive A grade cap number 27.
(Kamani and Kate had late call ins to work and Courtney cut her foot for some very late changes to the A grade side.)
The Cs went on their winning way with a convincing win over Sturt. We dismissed the Blues in the 19th over for 62. Kelly Armstrong took the figures with 3 for 4 off four overs with some clever leg spin bowling. (A catch at slip, a stumping and a bowled off her quicker ball!!!!) Captain Emily took two wickets and Hannah Armstrong and Nikki Moyle took two catches.
Hannah A and Hannah B put on 19 for the first wicket to give us a good start – but it was Hannah A and Nikki who took us to victory in the 16th over. Nikki finished win 21 no (PB after 15 no last week) to support Hannah who retired at 30 (after 33 no in game one and 13 last week).
The Bs won on forfeit to Port.
This week sees the official opening of the Charman family change rooms and the Peter Weeks Memorial Umpires Room on Sunday as the As play host to Port at 11.50 and the Cs travel to Col Waite to play Kensington at 12 noon.
