Weekend results and opening of Charman Family Changerooms

The C grade continued their winning form with a second win over Kensington.

We held them to 40 from their 20 overs with some very accurate bowling from Ellie Armstrong 1/7 off four, Kelly 0/3 off four and Hannah Baker 1/3 off four. We maintained good pressure in the field (they hit only one boundary.)

Our top order batters continued their good form with Hannah Armstrong 31 (third in four innings), Kelly Armstrong 30 and Amy White chiming in with 10 off five balls. Twins Kelly and Hannah put on 54 for the second wicket to see us run out winners in the eighth over.

We welcome Ellie Johnson who is a mate of Nikki Moyle to the C grade.

The highlight of the A grade weekend was the official opening of the Charman Family Change Rooms and the Peter Weeks Umpires Room. Guests included The Mayor of Onkaparinga Lorraine Rosenberg, Local Federal MP Amanda Rishworth, recently retired International Umpire Darrell Harper and Patron of the Umpires and Scorers Association and former state player Neil Dansie.

Thanks to Port Adelaide Women’s team who acted as a Guard of Honour (with our team) for the official cutting of the ribbon.

The Women’s Committee would like to thank President Harvey Jolly for his work in MCing the occasion and his efforts in writing the grant applications.

On behalf of the Club we would like to thank Sharon and her group who set up and made the food for the guests.

In the game we chased 262. We had them 5/119 in the 22 – but they added 140 in the last 28 overs. Jess took 2/40 off her 10 and Courtney took two in her second spell.

We had one good partnership of 38 between Kylie and Shari.

We welcomed Chelsea Dahlenberg to the Southern team – she is an off spinner who usually plays for Naracoorte in the Men’s Comp. Chelsea certainly entertained us with her repartee in the pavilion after her dismissal!!

Thanks to Shari who made the long trip from Quorn.

Kayla (29) and Chelsea (30) received their “Baggy Reds” before the game.

Congratulations to Robyn LeCornu who won the Volunteer of the Year at the recent Sports SA Awards.

This week the As play West Torrens at Bice, the Bs Sturt at Price Memorial and the Cs Northern TTG at Park 25 No 3 – all games are Sunday and all at 12 noon.
