Our C grade team won their second game on end with thrilling last ball win over Northern.
The Bs fell 45 runs short in a high scoring game against Kensis.
The As were beaten by last years premiers Sturt on Saturday.
The C grade continued their winning form with an exciting finish. Northern batted first with Joy Brown taking two great catches in the first five overs and captain Emily Armstrong taking two wickets. We had them 6/57 in the 11th over - but experienced player Carolyn Dittmar (who the C grade medal is named after!!!!) and Courtney Fielke took them to a competitive 6/103.
We replied with 19 for the first wicket (four overs) and Hannah Baker (29) and Kelly Armstrong (26no) gave us the advantange with a 51 run stand for the second wicket (14th over.) Kelly and Nikki Moyle took the score to 98 (needing six) with one over to go. Kelly hit a four off the second ball, a single off the fourth and Nikki finished the game with a boundary to secure the win.
Nikki's 16 no off 18 balls was her PB.
The Bs were involved in a very high scoring game against Kensis. Gordon Brown Oval ran even more quickly than the Saturday when the As had played there, they scored 21 boundaries and we scored 14.
Kensis batted first scoring at almost eight an over to post 2/158. Rachael and Kayla Mac took the wickets.
We opened well with 35 off the first three and 59 off four to be well a head of the required rate. Rachael Greenshields innings was highlighted by 5 consecutive fours off Dodridge in the fourth over of the innings. These included two drives and three shots off her legs.
Captain Cara Allen also batted very well making 21 off 25 with some good drives and solid defence.
The batting was far better than previous games with 15 from Kayla Stazuk and 10 from Nikki Koritsa (welcome back!!!)
Thanks to Linda McGrath (1) in the Bs and Joy Brown (two catches in the Cs) who pulled on the whites at very short notice with two late withdrawals to make sure we had a full compliment.
The As had Emma Inglis, the Victorian State captain, on loan for this week - Emma's 29 could not get us over the line against reigning premiers Sturt.
They batted first making 5/261 - with Under 15 state rep Alex Price making 117 no. We got Shelley Nitschke early for six and we had them 4/90 in the 19th over - but a fifth wicket stand off 99 took the game away from us.
Dayna had a good day in the field with a hand in four of the five wickets (two wickets and two catches.)
We could not get any big partnerships going with good contributions from Emma Inglis and a solid 19 no from Shari Bray. (Shari travelled four hours from Quorn to play and is playing regularly in the men's competition in Port Augusta.)
Thanks to Emma Inglis for playing and fitting in so well with the team. We will welcome Emma back any time she is available. She will be be in town for games over the weekend of December 17-18.
This week we have a C grade B grade double header at Bice - with the As playing at Unley Oval - all games are on Sunday.
