In
reply, the Stingrays chase started well, Hannah Armstrong (30*) and Hannah Baker
(4) reached 18 before the loss of the first wicket. The Blues struck again
shortly after by with Holt (1/12) doing the damage this time. Nicole Moyle (21*)
then joined Hannah Armstrong at the crease and the pair then kept the runs
ticking over steadily to secure victory for the Stingrays. Southern District
finished their 20 overs on 4/79.
The
Stingrays travelled to Col Waite Oval to take on Kensington as Stingrays captain
Emily Armstrong won the toss and sent the Browns into bat. The skilful Stingray
bowlers kept it tight for the word go; Emily Armstrong (1/7) was the first
bowler to strike before Hannah Armstrong (1/16) also took a wicket. Kelly bowled
her allotted four overs and bowled extremely tightly – only three runs were
scored off her four overs. Kensington finished their innings on 4/40.
Needing
41 runs for victory, Kelly Armstrong soon found herself at the crease with the
Stingrays at 1/16 and partnered with sister Hannah to put on a 54 run
partnership before Hannah retired not out on 31. Kelly’s innings included two
boundaries and came off 50 deliveries; she retired not out on 30 with the
victory secured. Kelly has had an outstanding season so far scoring 26 not out
in round two and taking 3/4 off four overs in Southern’s round three victory.
Nikolas,
Alecia and Kelly will be automatically included in the Powerade Junior Team of
the Year and will be awarded a 'Powerade Junior Cricketer of the Round' pack at
their respective clubs. They will also be invited to attend a function at the
Adelaide Oval at the end of the season, acknowledging them, along with other
nominees throughout the year, of their outstanding performances over the
season.
